Fair Trade

The sports world is winding down because the Super Bowl is over a week away. The Pro Bowl matters to me this weekend because I want to see Vince Young throw the ball to receivers who can actually catch it. Terrence Cody and Greg Oden had pictures they didnt want the world to see for very different reasons leaked this week. At the end of the day if you feel sorry for them or not they will both be famous millionaires while you and I are working our 9 to 5.

The Who are performing at the Super Bowl for halftime and that means Pete Townshends past is back in the news. Most people felt like Pete was getting a pass by the media because he is a rock legend and they like his music. Well that pass is getting revoked because the people who live near the Super Bowl received sex offender updates that ole Petey would be playing there. I dont know if Pete would get the R Kelly treatment by the media if he was younger and american but I dont think there will be many protestors outside the Super Bowl. I also dont think many people will boycott watching the game but it is a good excuse to not watch halftime which most people dont watch anyway because it usually stinks. Prince did a really good job, with a bad hip and electric guitars in the rain he just killed that performance. The backlash from Janets nipple has made what was already a boring part of the Super Bowl even worse.

Speech Therapy

(I mentioned Conan's speech on his final Tonight Show and here it is courtesy of Huffington Post)

"Before we end this rodeo, a few things need to be said. There has been a lot of speculation in the press about what I legally can and can't say about NBC. To set the record straight, tonight I am allowed to say anything I want. And what I want to say is this: between my time at Saturday Night Live, The Late Night Show, and my brief run here on The Tonight Show, I have worked with NBC for over twenty years. Yes, we have our differences right now and yes, we're going to go our separate ways. But this company has been my home for most of my adult life. I am enormously proud of the work we have done together, and I want to thank NBC for making it all possible.
Walking away from The Tonight Show is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Making this choice has been enormously difficult. This is the best job in the world, I absolutely love doing it, and I have the best staff and crew in the history of the medium. But despite this sense of loss, I really feel this should be a happy moment. Every comedian dreams of hosting The Tonight Show and, for seven months, I got to. I did it my way, with people I love, and I do not regret a second. I've had more good fortune than anyone I know and if our next gig is doing a show in a 7-11 parking lot, we'll find a way to make it fun.

And finally, I have to say something to our fans. The massive outpouring of support and passion from so many people has been overwhelming. The rallies, the signs, all the goofy, outrageous creativity on the internet, and the fact that people have traveled long distances and camped out all night in the pouring rain to be in our audience, made a sad situation joyous and inspirational.

To all the people watching, I can never thank you enough for your kindness to me and I'll think about it for the rest of my life. All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere.

Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen."

Home is where the heart is

I saw a video on MTO of some teens(I think they were teens or people in their 20's who need to start dressing their ages) grinding on a dance floor. "Hit it to the beat" was the name of the dance which is the same old grinding with clothes on you always see just with less clothes on. I thought about a Chris Rock joke when he talked about women dancing and singing along with rap songs about sex. Rock said,"I feel sorry for you guys out here who have to pick a wife out of this bunch." That joke is funny but I couldnt laugh too hard because it hit too close to home. Growing up the girls I knew looked up to Claire Huxtable types of women on tv. Claire was a hardworking attorney who was also a great mother and wife who was still every independent. Now the women are loving Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives with women basically having sex with anything with a pulse. I dont know how they can go from that wild lifestyle to a monogamous married life where everynight wont be clubs and excitement. My friend said they should play that Outkast line before every wedding gets to the vows,"Forever forever ever?" It may be something that sounds nice short term or is what he or she has wanted since they were kids but the reality of just one sexual partner for life (when they maybe feel like it) is hard for some people to deal with.

That reality of no adventure everyday may doom some marriages and relationships. TV and movies have raised the expectations of some people to impossible levels for their spouses to achieve. You are so focused on your long list of what they need to bring to the table you dont care that your list is short. You could spend time working on improving yourself and making sure you are the same type of catch for that person as they are for you. Lowering your expectations and having realistic expectations dont always have to be a bad thing or a failure in your life. Some people arent happy because they are denying themselves happiness by putting up to many high jumps for a person to reach them.

The home teams won yesterdays games so the Super Bowl decided on a neutral field should be interesting. The colts are 3.5 point favorite right now but that could change. The saints defense gave up 31 first downs,475 total yards and 4.6 yards per rush. Peyton Manning really wants this second ring and if the Saints give him any openings he will thread the needle. Kyle Vanden Bosch made the pro bowl so congrats to him. All these dropouts of the pro bowl made the way for the Titans to get added.

Sunday

(update:Jets lost to the Colts. Artie Lange said your wife wont always screw you but the NY Jets will always screw you. They couldnt even cover the 7.5 point spread. The Saints just beat the Vikings so that makes me 0-2. The vikings had 6 fumbles and 2 interceptions but the Saints still only won by a field goal in overtime. The Saints had 3 fumbles so they need to clean things up before they play Manning and the colts. Congratulations to the Colts and the Saints. I am picking the Colts to win the super bowl.)

I promised free picks on here to go along with my youcapper picks and im picking the Jets/Vikings to be this years super bowl teams. If im wrong you only have to wait a few hours to make fun of me. The Jets remind me of the Titans and thats why you just have to get into the playoffs and anything can happen. Fisher has to stop being so conservative with the plays and stop being loyal to bad players or old players who dont have it anymore.

The Haiti Telethon made 57 million which is really impressive. I dont know how much of that will go to Wyclefs charity but he changed some of his top money people and apologized for mistakes.

Jason Whitlock talked about Mike Greenberg saying Martin Luther Coon in the quote and link below. Im surprised alot of the black gossip sites havent leaped allover this but they are too busy trying to accuse everybody of being gay. Jersey Shore had 4.8million people tune into the season finale so the cast wants a raise for season 2. The Hills and that other crap they show on MTV has a cast that makes more money with lower ratings so the Jersey Shore cast has a good point and they deserve the money. Ronnie didnt fall for the okie doke by sammie again on the reunion show. Sammie played that mind game on his when he busted her with the cop and he ended up apologizing, wth? I think we have all dated at least one person who turns everything around on you even when they do something wrong. This time sammie and Julissa the host were trying to make Ronnie think he was being insecure but he stuck to his guns because if it wasnt a big deal why did they save the secret footage? Ronnie should have stuck to his original rule of not falling in love on the jersey shore.

Intervention and Steven Segal Lawman have been good shows so far. Human Target on Fox has been a surprise hit with me. The main guy on Human Target cosigned the cheating wife and saying it wasnt her fault and she shouldnt feel bad, which I dont approve of but the rest of the show has been good. Archer on FX has been a big disappointment so maybe it will get better.

Conan Obrien did his last Tonight Show and he talked about working hard and not being cynical and dont give up on your dreams. Its a good idea on paper and im all about being positive but when life kicks you in the nuts enough times it hard to keep getting back up. I can understand both sides of the coin because Conan made it to the mountaintop so he knows what its like to reach your goals in life. I dont know what else to do but to keep fighting forward trying to get to my own version of the mountaintop. Of course the fasttrack to the top would be winning the lotto. I thought about giving up on the lottery this week but instead I decided to just cut back on the amount I spend.

"8. It's mind blowing that ESPN's Mike Greenberg could accidently say "Martin Luther Coon" on national radio and TV on Martin Luther King's national holiday and ESPN take no punitive action.

I don't have any doubt that Greenberg regrets his mistake. I don't think his error necessarily paints Greenberg as a bigot. I don't think Greenberg should lose his job. But he should be required to do more than offer up a weak written apology. A short, paid suspension was warranted.

My tongue slips all the time. It's hard for me to fathom the King to Coon slip. King to Queen, King to Ding, King to Bling and King to Ring I totally get. King to Coon is off the table.

Greenberg has no discernible talent as a radio talk show host. ESPN pays him to say nothing and keep the "Mike and Mike" brand as non-controversial as humanly possible. He screwed up."

Dream Deferred

(update:Ron Mexico wrote a great piece about Wyclef and Haiti and he made a good point about how Red Cross doesnt give every penny to help Haiti but they are first on the ground in these situations. So I am falling back some on my Red Cross criticism and you should consider donating what you can money, time or whatever. Research and find the charity or people you trust most in this time of need.)

I hope everyone enjoyed their Dr. King holiday weekend. Mike Greenberg of Mike and Mike fame may or may not have said "coon" while trying to so say Dr. Kings name monday on his show. The clip is on Deadspin and you can judge for yourself. I am still banned but the Deadspin site is giving the sports news ESPN doesnt cover or doesnt want to cover. Greenberg did the Dog the Bounty Hunter,Don Imus "if anyone was offended" fake type apology. If he didnt say it why is he apologizing? Golic didnt react when Greenberg said it but Golic is also the same man who said he didnt care if Notre Dame fans yelled racist remarks as long as the football team wins.

Dreams were dashed for Martha Coakley when Scott Brown beat her last night for Ted Kennedys senate seat. Coakley was an interesting character not because she is actually an interesting person but because she is the worst part of every democrats stereotype. Coakley was boring, she didnt know Curt Schilling was a famous Red Sox pitcher, and she didnt like to campaign and shake hands. Someone must have cloned John Kerry and Hillary Clinton and this elitist, entitled woman was invented and she thought the voters owed her this senate seat by destiny. Hillary Clinton went around New York and worked hard to get elected there but when it came time to run for president she kicked up her heels(literally) like the country would lay down and give her the presidency. Hillary thought her only competition was the republicans she never saw Obama coming in her rearview. This beatdown should wake up the Dems but I doubt it will. The Dems sat around complaining for 8 years of Bush about how they need a majority and the White House to make changes, they get it and dont do enough with the power.

The combination of powerball and megamillions in the same state would have been unheard of years ago but with the economy in the toilet anything is possible. Just like the same girl who shot you down years ago might go out with you now even if its just for the movie and dinner out at a nice restaurant. You can try to parlay that into a marriage with a few kids who knows, rofl. Below is a press release from the Tennessee Lottery about megamillions and powerball both being sold here in my state.:
"NASHVILLE - The Tennessee Lottery is celebrating its sixth anniversary today with the announcement of a new grand total of $1.6 billion raised for education programs in the state, as well as finalizing the launch date of “Mega Millions,” which will begin on January 31.

“We’re proud of how far we’ve come and the positive impact we have created for education programs in Tennessee,” said Rebecca Hargrove, President and CEO of the Tennessee Lottery. “After six years, it’s likely that most Tennesseans have either benefitted from the Lottery directly or indirectly through a Lottery-funded education program, a cash or merchandise prize, commission earned from selling our products or a benefit gained by doing business with the Corporation.”

The new total of $1.6 billion for education comes after the Lottery closed its books for the second quarter of this fiscal year. Other details about the Lottery’s first six years (Jan. 20, 2004 through Dec. 31, 2009) include:
• More than $6 billion in gross ticket sales
• Nearly $3.6 billion in prizes won by players
• Nearly $393 million paid in retailer commissions
• 52 tickets sold worth $1 million or more

“What better way to continue this momentum than by offering Mega Millions and Powerball, two mega-jackpot games that players are sure to enjoy,” said Hargrove, who is Chair of the Powerball Group and has been a longtime and leading proponent of cross-selling both games.

“With more people having the chance to play both games, Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots are expected to grow bigger and faster than when they were sold individually. This means more winners and larger jackpots on a more frequent basis.”
The Lottery expects Mega Millions to bring an additional $10 to $15 million annually to education programs in Tennessee.

The decision to allow states the option of offering both Powerball and Mega Millions has been prohibited until a recent agreement was reached in a joint meeting of all U.S. lottery jurisdictions. Beginning Jan. 31, 33 jurisdictions representing a combined population of 200 million people with 148,000 retail outlets will begin offering both games. Others will begin cross-selling the two games at later dates."

Gone Til November

Wyclef Jean of the Fugees and the unofficial peoples president of Haiti is in some trouble. His charity to help Haiti after the devastation is under fire now. The Smoking Gun website (who are the same people who brought us the hilarious Kobe Bryant rape interview transcripts and those mugshots of random people) has pulled the tax records of Wyclef. Wyclef denies the money is paying for studio time for his terrible solo albums and to pay for those Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld like fleets of cars. Wyclef released a statement denying everything but he didnt release any paperwork to back up that denial. Instead Wyclef pulled the old diversion tactic that never works unless the person listening wants it to work on them.

Cheaters arent brilliant liars they are usually just lying to people who want to believe the lie. Mark McGwire lies were laughed at by people unless you are a Cardinals fan. Just like Spygate is no big deal if you are a Patriots fan. Wyclef said we shouldnt be focused on the rumors of where the money goes during a crisis like this we should be focused on helping the people...what? The average person doesnt have a private cargo plane we can fly down with supplies, so we give what we can and sometimes more to the charities we hear about. Most people can only pray most of the money goes to that cause or they will say,"Its the thought that counts, you had good intentions." Whatever my intent was to help people in Haiti not help Wyclef buy another sports car to cheat on his wife in. Wycelf would then remind me he is in fact Haitian so the money is helping out a Haitian, rofl.

So angry people are now saying give your money to the Red Cross but you cant trust them either. I remember when Katrina happened I sent ALOT of money to the Red Cross and I went to mississippi to help out in person. That was when another storm happened in one of the Carolinas I think. So Red Cross sent some of that Katrina money to go help out people in the Carolinas and another storm in Florida. When some people give money to a charity they want it to go to that specific area not go into a bank account and then be sent where the charity wants to spread it out too. It may sound cold blooded but if you sent a check to your grandmother for her birthday wouldnt you get mad if another old woman got the check, Red Cross would say dont get mad because it was that old womans birthday too. You want the money you donate to go where your heart was pulled to or touched.

Some of the really cold people said dont give money to anybody because they choose to live in high risk areas. I didnt consider New Orleans a high risk area unless you count getting shot or stabbed. Katrina type storms come along maybe once every 100 years to that city. These other people in the middle of the country who live in Tornado Alley or down in Florida where Hurricanes have a season of their own and daytime lightning strikes can kill you. Even Nashville has had a tornado or two but its not an every year or even 2 year thing.

That diversion stuff was done before by Rick Pitino. Pitino was exposed as a cheater and a guy who paid for his mistress to have an abortion after he impregnated her on the floor of his restaurant. Pitino brought up his brother in law dying in the 9/11 attacks and even Ted Kennedy dying as reasons people shouldnt be talking about his cheating. Pitino lost alot of fans and respect but he didnt lose his job. Wyclef can bounce back like that too he just has to spend this 2 million in 6 days he has raised the right way on the people of Haiti.

Speaking of shady coaches Lane Kiffin had a 60 second press conference in the middle of the night and used a police escort to sneak out of Knoxville,Tennessee. He quit to go coach USC after only 14 months on the UT job. This guy has had 3 head coaching jobs in 3 years so I guess you cant hate the player hate the game. The shadiest part was that his assistant called the UT freshman players and told them not to go to class so they could more easily transfer to USC. The NCAA criminal organization allows this stuff to happen with so many coaches like Calipari and Kiffin, so anytime I hear Dick Vitale crying about players leaving early I know he is just looking out for the Evil Empire. They want the kids to not get paid meanwhile they are making billions off the kids and if they stay and get hurt they end up with no money and back home working at Walmart and regret everyday like Al Bundy.

Chris Rocks greatest hits/Heavy G

Chris Rock is right again. Chris over a long period of time has been one of the funniest and most clever comics out there. People like him because most of what he is saying relates to you or will eventually relate to you. In "Kill The Messenger" Rock said that he cant see America having a black first lady because black women cant be submissive to a black man they have to run everything. Rock said that she would have her husband the president hiring her girlfriends and she would be out alot. That is exactly what is going on with the President right now.

The Rock special is even funnier because it was shot during the election and he basically predicted all of this would happen. Michelles friends not only are allover the cabinet some are messing up and getting into controversy. They keep saying these are "friends" of the Obamas but these women are single and there is no way Michelle was leaving Barack alone with a bunch of single women unless she was there and they are actually her friends. Only one of them actually looks good and the rest are too old for most guys but even Chris Rock pointed out looks dont really matter most of the time if people want to cheat. The rumors are already spreading that maybe a few of them are lesbians and thats why the urge to settle down and start a family never got in the way of their careers. The party crashers incident was a mistake by a friend of michelles who was more worried about her dress and showing off than doing her job and keeping out strangers and possible terrorists. The president had to use his executive privilige to stop them from forcing her to testify. President Obama doesnt have time to clean up other people messes and run a country. Barack has more gray hair and he was already skinny but now he is so thin he makes Chris Rock look chubby. I dont want other countries to think our President is getting run by his wife(even though he is) and he is weak or anything. Image is a big deal but foxnews will always take the negative slant against him. I have to give Oreilly credit for taking up for Michelle Obama after he met her at the white house he called her attractive and charming so of course Laura Ingraham teased him and he lit her up for it and called her a kool aid drinker. It was interesting because we all can see how obvious it is that most of Fox will be negative about all democrats especially the President and his family but Oreilly took a stand that no one else at Fox would take.

Regina Benjamin is catching heat because she is a full figured woman and as surgeon general some people want a fit woman that looks like Michelle Obama. This is a touchy fight for republicans to try and start because the average american woman is a size 12 waist in jeans. Oprah is such a hero for women and she has just given up on keeping weight off now she is just fat and happy like most big women are. Being healthy is important but being happy with yourself matters too and most big women I meet now act cockier than the skinny women do. I used the Heavy G title because martin called gina that one time on "Martin" and her name is Regina Benjamin.

My only beef with some of these BBW's is that they complain about men wanting skinny women or not accepting them for who they are but they dont give the same mercy to big men. Monique the comic,Jill Scott and even Jennifer Hudson all traded in their regular looking guys with large bodies to get the skinny guys or the athletic guys. Some big ladies want the guys to look past the layers to the personality and heart but they pick their guys based on his looks and her lust for his body and dont apologize for it. Hypocrites come in all sizes folks.

Speaking of big people Mark McGwire just admitted he took steroids for a decade. Barry Bonds is somewhere laughing at the way everyone tried to make him the evil guy but almost everyone else has admitted or tested positive for the same thing he was berated for.

On to the next one

Avatar is now the second biggest movie of all time. I havent seen it but I may go just to check out the 3-D. I just dont think it will look as good in 3 years on TBS with my small low def tv,rofl. The ravens demolished the patriots and after the game the head coach quoted Jay-Z because "On to the next one" is the song they played before the game to get hype.

The sports announcer Craig James is thinking about a run for congress. James said this country is ready for another "revolution" to happen and overthrow the government. Craig wants to join the government but also lead a revolution to tear it down...oh ok. These rich people like Craig James and Glenn Beck who talk about revolution must not realize the poor people who rise up will head straight for their mansions to loot and pillage. They are pretending to care about poor people but they dont want to help them out in anyway so if its a revolution the poor will just break in and take their riches like Robin Hood. I keep hearing so many people complaining about taxes and the government now but during the 8 years of Bush they were silent except to defend Bush. The same people now talking about revolution and taxes being illegal according to the constitution were telling democrats for 8 years,"If you dont love America then you can get the hell out." Democrats should be saying the same thing right now to the people who are talking about basically committing treason. Ann Coulter wrote a book called Treason but she was stretching the definition of it, what some of these people are talking about now would be illegal to do against any government on earth. One thing you can say positive about the Clintons is they know how to fight dirty and not let republicans run over them. The Clintons are also great friends and business partners with the Bush family so some of that may be a front to look tough and ready to die for the democratic cause. Hillary was a republican in college.

I saw a tennessee megamillions sign at the grocery store but I still havent seen any start dates for the game. Until I have a ticket in my hand it will be hard to believe. There are 2 big lotto stories recently. One won because the cashier messed up his order he wanted 3 tickets to give as Christmas presents but the lady put all three on the same ticket and he won 128 million on Christmas eve. The other story is a couple who owe the government a million dollars after they misused funds meant for a homeless shelter. They were supposed to set up the shelter but they bought HDTV's and other luxuries. Now that they won millions in the lottery they dont want to pay what they owe. They are risking jailtime if they dont pay this amount. They would rather try to fight it in court again. It is their money they can do what they want but their history has alot of failed jobs and ideas in the past so most people would want to get that debt out of the way and move on with a happy life. When its child support or alimony they take it out immediately but since the lottery didnt do it this time the people have a chance to live it up on the money while they wait on another appeal case. The money could all be spent by the time it goes through the courts again. They won 162 million but dont want to pay the 1 million they owe the government.

BCS,FTW

Alabama beat Texas to win the National Championship last night. Colt McCoy was injured in the first quarter but the true freshman backup quarterback had some good touchdown throws. Vince Young was on the sidelines and ESPN said VY has a year of eligibility left so they should put a jersey on him, rofl.

I made fun of the weathermen for announcing 2-4 inches of snow and scaring us southerners. The kids are working on day 2 of a snow day so plus the weekend these bad kids have a 4 day weekend. Im glad I didnt wait to buy my lottery tickets or I would be stuck out there in this mess more often. When I say "mess" I dont mean the snow dust that hit I mean the crazy way we southerners act when there is any snow/sleet. Stocking up on groceries and driving all crazy is the real "mess" that would get someone killed early down here.

Congratulations to the Atliens in georgia who won the Fantasy 5 last night. Nine people won because the numbers were 19-20-21-22-23. Thats right the numbers were in a row. It wouldnt be a shock if it was a computer picking the numbers but that was a ball machine drawing, totally random. The nightmare for any lottery is that the numbers 1-2-3-4-5-6 will come out one day. Those numbers and the lottery numbers from the tv show Lost are the most played numbers in the world. If those numbers ever hit(they wont let that happen)it would bring down the economy of every nation on the planet, lol.

Lil Waynes album was delayed again. Im a fan of Lil Waynes mixtapes more than his albums but the fans wont wait forever. This is Birdman basically pulling a Jeff Fisher and overcoaching the situation. Birdman can get his garbage albums out on time and that Young Money Cash Money dropped in December but your number one artist cant get his albums released on time. The Carter 3 went platinum in a week so he looks like a genius just like Jeff Fisher looks like a genius when he has a good team. Birdman doesnt realize with this being an experimental rock type album for Wayne he may want to get it out fast just in case the fans let it flop then you can rush out the Carter 4 to try and save some buzz. Jay-z sold alot of albums with the Blueprint 3 after American Gangster sold slowly so its all about what have you done for me lately.

New Year New You

Happy New Year to everybody. My computer has been in the shop so I have been Awol on the posts. Congratulations to Amp for working with Combat Jack now. Make sure you visit Amps site,Ron Mexicos site and Combat Jacks site and his blog on xxlmag.

2010 is starting off big in sports and with the lottery. Arkansas joined powerball 2 months ago and they had their first winner saturday of 25 million. Chris Johnson became only the sixth man in NFL history to get 2000 yards in a season. Unfortunately he is the only one whose team didnt make the playoffs. CJ also set the record for most yards from scrimmage.

TI is free and Lil Wayne will soon be heading in so we should all be expecting albums from both of them this year. Those are both gun cases so the resolution for this year should be to get your guns registered or dont have them at all if you can afford security. Gilbert Arenas also has a potential gun charge so the small amount of athletes who get in trouble get the most press and make the good ones look bad. The titans like most NFL teams do alot of charity work but ESPN doesnt cover those stories enough.
